Pete Hawkins, self-portrait
I first ventured into photography during my A-levels in high school, photographing using a Canon SLR (back in the days of film) and developing my own negatives and prints in the school's dark room.
Street photography has really captured my attention because of how challenging and fast-paced it can be. I’m trying to capture and freeze candid moments in a split second whilst applying my own creative vision and composition techniques to the shot. This makes it very satisfying when everything lines up, and you capture a photo that you love.
Gear-wise, I have been using Sony mirrorless cameras since I got my A37 in 2013. Currently, I’m using the Sony A7IV, mostly with prime lenses.
